Reception
The reception room at our Akal Drug De-Addiction Centres is the first point of contact between our facility and the patients and their relatives. The staff here is well trained in scheduling appointments, answering patient’s questions. They are trained in filling medical forms, processing payments of patients, and maintaining their confidentiality
OPD
The staff here is trained to meet and greet patients in a friendly and courteous manner. They direct patients to appropriate doctor and professional. Maintain medical notes, test results. They also register new patients on the computer system. Prescribed medicines are dispensed to the OPD patients by the pharmacist and proper record is maintained.
Counselling
Helping patients to quit the habit of drugs, alcohol or any other substance is the sole aim of the Akal Drug De-Addiction Centres. The detoxification process is the initial step in addiction treatment. But to manage the urges and avoid relapse, expert counselling is imparted to the patients. Counselling is the mainstay of addiction treatment. Our trained professionals and doctors give several therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, and individual, group and family counselling.
IPD / Ward
As per the assessment of senior psychiatrist/doctors the patients are admitted for indoor treatment for detoxification and later on their long-term management in OPD settings. Our centres have sufficient expertise and best infrastructure for treatment of patients staying in well equipped wards.
Dining
Before the meals are relished, the patients sit in remembrance of Almighty God, reciting holy verses and hyms of sacred Gurbani to thank God for the provision of nectar like food. They are provided balanced and nutritious diet. Special care is taken for the maintenance of absolute hygiene and cleanliness in and around dining room and kitchen.
Recreation
The IPD patients of the centers are encouraged to regularly take part in recreational activities and games, both indoor like Chess, Table Tenis, Ludo etc and outdoor like Volley Ball, Badminton etc. It is ensured to make them occupied and absorbed so that they are able to ward off craving for drugs as well as maintain physical fitness. The patients are encouraged to participate daily in various yogic exercises under the guidance of an expert yoga instructor.
Spiritual Rejuvenation
As part of the holistic treatment, we encourage the patients to regularly take part in prayers, meditation, and Simran based on Gurmat way-of-life. The aim is not only to treat the sick patients physically but his mind also. His latent spiritual strivings are awakened. There is a robust connection between spiritual strivings and the outcome of the management of substance abuse-related disorders.
Library
There is a dedicated library in the centres containing of a variety of motivational books in Punjabi, Hindi and English on various subjects and topics. There are also books describing harms of using various intoxicating substances and alcohol.
Pharmacy
There is a well-stocked pharmacy for dispensation of medicines as prescribed by the psychiatrist/doctors. Qualified pharmacist mans the pharmacy and maintains essential records.
Medicine Dispensing Room
Services are provided by qualified and experienced health care providers/pharmacists, following good drug dispensing practices. Proper procurement, storage, and dispensing of medicines are ensured in a clean, hygienic, and organized dispensing environment. There is a specifically created room for dispensation of medicines, prescribed by the psychiatrist/doctors, to the indoor patients.
Staff Accommodation
Psychiatrists, Medical Officers, Pharmacists, and other staff members working in the Centres are provided with spacious residential accommodation on the premises of the Centres, at Baru Sahib and Cheema Sahib. Accommodation is also provided to them at nearby Akal Academy as well as the Gurudwara Janam Asthan, for those working at the Cheema Centre.
Garden/Lawn
A spacious open space provides best facility to the patients to enjoy playing outdoor games like volleyball, badminton etc. Besides doing physical and yogic exercises, they get relaxation and rejuvenate themselves in the fresh open air.
