The Presenter: Ms. Aastha Luthra – Clinical Music Therapist
Ms. Aastha Luthra, a seasoned Clinical Music Therapist with nine years of experience, is based in Gurugram, India. Over the course of her extensive career, Ms. Luthra has become proficient in harnessing the therapeutic potential of music. Her track record includes successfully facilitating customized music therapy sessions, incorporating techniques such as improvisation, listening, song writing, and performance, to enhance emotional well-being, physical health, and social functioning.
Ms. Luthra’s collaborative approach, working closely with healthcare professionals and caregivers, has consistently yielded tangible results. She has made a positive impact on individuals of all ages, including children with learning disabilities and adults dealing with mental health disorders. Ms. Luthra’s nine years of dedicated expertise underscore her commitment to using music as a powerful therapeutic tool, consistently improving the lives of those she serves.
Professor Pankaj Mala Sharma
Professor Pankaj Mala Sharma, a highly esteemed educator with an illustrious 32-year career in academia, has made an indelible mark in the fields of music and fine arts. Her influential contributions are most evident during her tenure as the former Chairperson of the Department of Music at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where she played a pivotal role in fostering academic excellence and cultivating a vibrant learning environment. Additionally, her leadership extended to the Faculty of Design and Fine Arts, where she served as the Dean, underscoring her unwavering dedication to arts education.
Beyond the confines of traditional classrooms, Professor Sharma has generously shared her wisdom through 84 extension lectures and orchestrated 46 workshops, thereby imparting her expertise to a broader audience. Throughout her extensive administrative roles, which spanned nearly a decade as the head of the Department of Music, three terms as Faculty Dean, , Professor Sharma’s legacy remains undeniable. She has also been a guiding light for students, performers, and academics, including notable individuals like Satinder Sartaz, who pursued a Ph.D. under her tutelage, exemplifying her profound impact on the educational landscape.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the fields of music and fine arts, Professor Sharma has received a multitude of prestigious awards and honors, including:
1. The ‘Sangeet Seva Award,’ graciously presented by the SARB AKAL MUSIC SOCIETY OF CALGARY, CANADA, on September 5, 2021.
2. A Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution to music and arts in June 2007, thoughtfully bestowed upon her by Aikam TV-Radio Music & Art Academy, Aikam Media Group, Ontario, Canada.
3. The esteemed ‘Sangeet Vidushi’ award from the Governor of Haryana, bestowed upon her by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, in July 2004. This accolade is a testament to her exceptional prowess in the realm of music.
