The Presenter: Gurpreet Singh Singh Saroud

Gurpreet Singh Singh Saroud is a dedicated Psychiatric Social Worker and Mental Health Professional based in Chandigarh, India, with a strong focus on mental health awareness, advocacy, and rehabilitation. His journey in the field of mental health began with his pursuit of an M.Phil degree from Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Sector-32, Chandigarh.

After completing his degree program, Gurpreet Singh joined Pushpanjali Trust in September 2019, where he has been making a meaningful impact for over four years, serving as a Psychiatric Social Worker and Team Leader. One of his standout strengths lies in conducting caregiver mental health workshops, an invaluable contribution that aids families and caregivers in understanding and supporting individuals facing mental health challenges.

To further enhance his expertise, Gurpreet Singh underwent six months of comprehensive training in rehabilitation with two renowned NGOs in Bangalore: Richmond Fellowship Society (RFS) and Athma Shakti Vidyalaya (ASV). This training enriched his skills and knowledge in supporting individuals on their path to recovery and well-being. Gurpreet Singh’s dedication to mental health advocacy and caregiver support positions him as a valuable resource in the field of mental health in Chandigarh, India.

The Interviewer and Spokesperson: Sangeeta Jain

Sangeeta Jain is an esteemed Executive Director and Coach based in Chandigarh, India. With a steadfast commitment to the well-being and empowerment of neurodiverse individuals, Sangeeta brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her roles.

Serving as the Joint Secretary of the Society for the Rehabilitation of Mentally Challenged (SOREM), Sangeeta has dedicated over 14 years to this essential organisation, which focuses on rehabilitation and therapeutic support for neurodiverse individuals. Her contributions extend to providing counselling services and overseeing the organisation’s operations.

In her multifaceted role as Joint Secretary, Executive Director, and Coach, Sangeeta is deeply committed to empowering neurodiverse individuals and addressing the critical question of “what after us?” She actively engages in developing Individual Transition Plans (ITPs) to provide answers and solutions for the future well-being of these individuals and their families.

Furthermore, Sangeeta’s work extends to supporting women in rising resiliently from trauma and adversity. Recognising the significant challenges faced by primary caregivers of special needs individuals, she draws from her own personal journey as a mother to a 24-year-old young man with autism spectrum disorder. With two decades of experience in this field, Sangeeta understands the unique pain and challenges faced by caregivers and aims to offer solace and practical solutions to enhance their quality of life.
